My Euro Moment.

My Euro Moment.

With UEFA 2021 just around the corner, I recently took a walk down memory lane to relive my favorite Euro moment.

If you’re of English heritage, there can only be one. Paul Gascoigne vs. Scotland at Wembley during the first round of Euro 1996.

I can remember it vividly. England up 1-0 and Scotland earn a penalty when Stuard McCall goes to ground. Gary McCallister steps up to the spot. MCallister was a spot-kick specialist. I'd seen him take many penalties for both Coventry City and Liverpool and he never seemed to miss but on this day, he slams the kick straight at David Seaman. England then play the typical ball from back-to-front but the front has the right man on the ball. Gazza flicks the ball over Colin Hemdry's head and BOOM, he belts a volley far stick. Wembley goes absolutely bonkers and Gazza runs to the corner and does the dentist chair celebration, reincarnated from a pre-season boozy night out in Hong Kong the English lads had for which they got lambasted by the Global media. How's that for retribution.

What a goal, what a night, what a memory.

As Euro 2021 approaches, what is your most vivid memory? I'd love to hear in the comments.
